Hi, I am looking at buying the Corelle® Livingware™ Winter Frost White 76-Pc Dinnerware Set. Could you please advise and confirm if this is lead free?

      A:

All Corelle® stoneware products and glazes are made of clay-based materials and glazes used throughout the industry. Decorations, if present, are made from low-lead enamels and fired at temperatures exceeding 1000 degrees F, which binds any heavy metals both physically and chemically so that their release is minimized.

The current limit for presence of leachable lead in order to satisfy certain requirements is no more than 0.100 ppm (1 tenth of one part per million) when obtained under test conditions. At no time have World Kitchens results exceeded levels permissible under the guidelines mentioned above (which are believed to be the most stringent in the world).

Tests for the presence of heavy metals are conducted for World Kitchen by internationally certified, third-party laboratories under strict conditions, by trained technicians, and using atomic absorption spectrophotometry analysis following carefully monitored preparation. These steps are necessary to minimize any possibility of contamination or false reading during preparation, testing or analysis.

  • Q:

I am writing to you from Sydney, Australia to ask you about the 16 piece winter frost dinnerware set which (2of) I purchased from Kitchenware Wonderland in Queensland. Each set had 4 mugs which didn't match other pieces because they were heavy and the inscription branding at the bottom stated: Corelle Made in China and not: Corelle made in USA.

Does this set come with genuine Corelle mugs made in USA or has the shop sent me something not related to your product? If so where can I make a complaint if I don't receive any satisfaction from the retail outlet.

I look forward to your answer

    Regards

    Margaret Lennie

      A:

Please be advised that the stoneware mugs included in Corelle dinnerware sets are made in China.

Corelle's glass lamination process is terrific for making plates and bowls, but unfortunately does not work well for mug shapes. That's why we offer decorated ceramic cups or generously proportioned solid color stoneware mugs using better quality glazes than what is typically offered on stoneware tableware.

Corelle® Dinnerware - Vitrelle® Glass Use & Care

Read these Instructions Carefully and Save them for Future Reference Corelle® plates and bowls are made of Vitrelle® glass. Mugs are made of porcelain or stoneware as noted on the package. Please review information on bottom of items prior to use.

Corelle® products can be used for serving and re-heating food in microwaves or pre-heated conventional ovens up to 350° F (176° C). To warm empty dinnerware for serving, use pre-heated conventional ovens only. Porcelain and stoneware mugs are microwavable.

ALL GLASS, PORCELAIN AND STONEWARE CAN BE BROKEN and care should be taken in handling. A drop or knock against a hard object may cause immediate breakage or enough damage so that the item breaks later for no apparent reason. Such breakage may make a noise and can break into many small pieces. Be careful in handling as pieces may be sharp.

Wash Corelle® dinnerware items by hand or in an automatic dishwasher. Load items to avoid bumping against other items during cycle. To remove gray or rust marks, clean with non-abrasive cleanser. If scouring is necessary, use only plastic or nylon cleaning pads with non-abrasive cleansers. DO NOT allow stoneware or porcelain mugs to soak/stand in water for an extended period of time. Applied heat after soaking may cause glaze cracking.
