French White, Casual Collections, Colours, Creations, Traditions and Ryku Use & Care

All CorningWare® stoneware bakeware items are breakable. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury or property damage.

Do not use on stovetop, under a broiler/griller, under a microwave browning element, in a toaster oven, or on or near any other direct heating source such as range vents, open flames, etc.

Avoid sudden temperature changes. Do not add liquid to a hot stoneware item, place a hot stoneware item on a wet surface, or handle with a wet or cold cloth.

Handle hot stoneware items with a dry cloth or potholder.

Do not use to microwave popcorn or to hold or support popcorn bags, microwave convenience foods with special browning wrappers, etc. Some convenience food packaging is designed to heat rapidly in a microwave oven and may cause breakage.

Do not heat an empty vessel in a microwave oven. It may become too hot to handle, crack or break.

Do not use or repair any item that is chipped, cracked or severely scratched.

Do not abuse by dropping or hitting against a hard object.

Do not use abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, or any object that will scratch stoneware items. Place on a dry placemat or tablecloth to avoid scratching surfaces. The bottom of stoneware items may be rough.

Do not use any items mistreated in this manner.

Uses

CorningWare® stoneware bakeware can be used for serving and reheating food. Some stoneware bakeware can be used in microwave, convection and pre-heated conventional oven. Some items may not be appropriate for specific uses. Review information on bottom of items prior to use.

Care

Wash by hand or in automatic dishwasher. Load dishes to avoid bumping against other items during cycle. To remove gray or rust marks, clean with a non-abrasive cleanser. If scouring is necessary, use only plastic or nylon cleaning pads with non-abrasive cleansers. Do not allow stoneware dinnerware to soak/stand in water for an extended period of time. Applied heat after soaking may cause crazing.

Can you cook gravy on a glass stovetop in a French white casserole dish?

      A:

Hi Kathy. Unfortunately our Corningware French White® stoneware dishes are not designed to be used with a direct heat so they are not able to be used for any type of stove top cooking. If you are looking for a dish that can go from the oven to the stovetop we would recommend our CorningWare® Stovetop™ Pyroceram® dishes.

I have a Corningware Electrics slow cooker/crockpot. Will this fit the base as a replacement?

      A:

Hi Marilyn. The inserts for the slow cooker/crockpots were made specifically for those electrics. We do not recommend using any of our stoneware bakeware in a slowcooker/crockpot as they are not designed for that purpose of a direct heat source.

Will this casserole dish nestle inside your shallow(er) 4.5L casserole number F21-B? We received it as a wedding gift 26 years ago as part of a boxed set.

      A:

We can't say for sure, since your F21 casserole has been discontinued. We do believe it will based on the measurements we have listed for your discontinued dish. The measurements listed for this casserole dish include the handles, so it should fit fine.

  • Q:

I really am typing this between my tears. I just broke the handle of my 4 quart white dish I inherited from my mom. Is there any glue that will work to glue it and withstand the oven heat? I hit one piece of corning ware against another.
Asked on 12/31/2015 by Deborah from Texas

    1 answer

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

We're truly sorry to learn of your heartbreak, Deborah. While we aren't in the business of gluing, we did find a brand of glue that is dishwasher safe. You may want to try it and consider admiring your Mom's piece from a display cabinet. We were unable to located any that were oven safe. It is available at Home Depot. It is made by Loctite and called Glass Glue. We hope this helps.
