French White, Casual Collections, Colours, Creations, Traditions and Ryku Use & Care

All CorningWare® stoneware bakeware items are breakable. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury or property damage.

Do not use on stovetop, under a broiler/griller, under a microwave browning element, in a toaster oven, or on or near any other direct heating source such as range vents, open flames, etc.

Avoid sudden temperature changes. Do not add liquid to a hot stoneware item, place a hot stoneware item on a wet surface, or handle with a wet or cold cloth.

Handle hot stoneware items with a dry cloth or potholder.

Do not use to microwave popcorn or to hold or support popcorn bags, microwave convenience foods with special browning wrappers, etc. Some convenience food packaging is designed to heat rapidly in a microwave oven and may cause breakage.

Do not heat an empty vessel in a microwave oven. It may become too hot to handle, crack or break.

Do not use or repair any item that is chipped, cracked or severely scratched.

Do not abuse by dropping or hitting against a hard object.

Do not use abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, or any object that will scratch stoneware items. Place on a dry placemat or tablecloth to avoid scratching surfaces. The bottom of stoneware items may be rough.

Do not use any items mistreated in this manner.

Uses

CorningWare® stoneware bakeware can be used for serving and reheating food. Some stoneware bakeware can be used in microwave, convection and pre-heated conventional oven. Some items may not be appropriate for specific uses. Review information on bottom of items prior to use.

Care

Wash by hand or in automatic dishwasher. Load dishes to avoid bumping against other items during cycle. To remove gray or rust marks, clean with a non-abrasive cleanser. If scouring is necessary, use only plastic or nylon cleaning pads with non-abrasive cleansers. Do not allow stoneware dinnerware to soak/stand in water for an extended period of time. Applied heat after soaking may cause crazing.

  • Q:

    Hi !
I have corningware French white 1.5 qt casserole dish with glass dish. I purchased a corningware 1.5 qt plastic lid for it and it doesn't seem to fit. Not sure if the plastic lid is only meant for the baking dish only. If so, what size lid would fit for it. Would be helpful if you can provide any suggestions.

    thanks

      A:

We have had different styles out over the years. If your original glass cover has a white knob, there is not a plastic cover available. We do apologize for any inconvenience.

  • Q:

Is the new design of the lid safe to use in the oven? Seems very fragile and could easily break.

      A:

Hi Britney. Yes, the new covers can be used in the oven as long as all of the use and care procedures are followed such as: the oven must be completely preheated before placing the dish with the cover in the oven, no broiler use, and when the hot cover is removed from the dish it is set on a dry pot holder, dry towel or dry wood cutting board. These are the same use and cars as the older style covers.

      A:

Julie, we appreciate your concern. World Kitchen values the safety of its products and our consumers. You will be comforted to know that we routinely test our Corningware® products for harmful lead content at certified, internationally-recognized third-party testing laboratories. The tests are conducted using protocols developed by the National Institute for Standards that form the basis for industry standards and regulatory testing mandates for lead leachate in dinnerware (lead content that is not a leachate poses no health risks). The tests take 24 hours or more to perform. Our testing confirms that Corningware® products comply with all applicable federal and state safety regulations, including those relating to lead and other heavy metals content, and they are safe to use in a manner consistent with their use and care instructions
